  • Urban Transformation: Following the reunification of Vietnam, the military managed the site until 1988. It was officially established as Hoang Van Thu Park in 1989, transforming a symbol of war into a space for peace and community.

  • Name Origin: The park is named after Hoàng Văn Thụ, a significant Vietnamese Communist revolutionary and national hero.

Unique Features and Activities

The park is designed to cater to various recreational needs, making it a hub for local social life:

  • The Walking Paths: The park features extensive, well-maintained walking and jogging trails under the shade of mature trees, making it perfect for a leisurely stroll or an afternoon run.

  • The Central Lake: A large artificial lake covers a significant portion of the interior, adding to the tranquil atmosphere and serving as a spot for recreational fishing.

  • Fitness Zone: Public, outdoor gym equipment is freely available and popular among locals seeking low-impact exercise.

  • The Pedestrian Overpass: A unique architectural feature is the elevated pedestrian bridge that crosses Phan Thuc Duyen Street, which bisects the park. This bridge connects the two main sections and is a popular spot for photos.

  • Cultural Events: The open lawns are occasionally used for small community gatherings, festivals, and public cultural events.

Nice park, a little noisy as it is located right between large congested roads. Plenty of trees, grass, benches and we'll maintained.

I drove by, and didn't' get the time to take a stroll, which was unfortunate. But the park looked very beautiful and serene.

If you're driving towards the airport from the city center, don't forget to take a look out of your window before leaving the city.
