This location is very out of the way for most people visiting Hanoi on a shorter stay. However it has its own vibes and artistic flair. With almost every house in the area having something to do with pottery. It is great if you want to get some quality pottery at what felt like fair prices. Also pottery making is good fun also. The main reason this gets 3 stars is the location, it is very hard to get a grab back and also there is a lot of walking which can be hard for how hot it is in this area. Overall worth it if you have the time and want to take back pottery.

I did a day tour with Authentic Bat Trang pottery village. From making a pottery piece to take home, tour of 3 or 4 factories in Bat Trang and walking through the historic village. Authentic Bat Trang Pottery staff was outstanding.

Located in the Old Quarter in Hanoi.

Best tour I did in Hanoi!!! Very reasonable price

I recommend buying tickets in advance to plan on pottery firing later after the tour. 1-2 days

If you like pottery making or just buying various clay pots, bowls, teapots and vases then this is a must visit.
I walked from the old town in Hanoi which is not a trip for the faint hearted as was a good 4 hour walk there and 4 hours back. Taxi will get you there in 30 mins so it is easily accessible.
Once in the village which is much more remote rural Vietnam you have pretty much every building dedicated to manufacturing clay pottery items and you are surrounded by rural veg growing patches and banana plantations.
I bought 3 different sized rice and pho bowls all which came to less than 300,000 dong so very cheap.
Locals are extremely friendly with all the kids saying hello and practicing their English but be aware not everyone here speaks English as this is very much outside of the usual tourist area but don't let that stop you as everyone willing to help as best they can.

The museum is worth visiting. It has a bunch of interesting exhibits, very beautiful roof top and you also will have an opportunity to make your own pot. Prepare to spend a couple of hours there.
