    • In case of emergencies (arrests, deaths, serious injuries), U.S. citizens should contact the Consular Section of the nearest U.S. mission using the emergency numbers listed above.

  2. Holidays:

    • U.S. Missions observe both U.S. Federal Holidays and major Vietnamese Holidays (Tết, Reunification Day, etc.). Please check the official Mission website for a list of closure dates before planning your visit.

  3. Consular Services:

    • Services such as passport renewal, Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA), notary services, and visa interviews require prior online appointments. Walk-ins are generally not accepted.

  4. Jurisdiction Clarity:

    • Citizens residing or traveling in the North (Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, etc.) should contact the Embassy in Hanoi.

    • Citizens in the Central (Da Nang, Hội An) and Southern regions (HCMC, Cần Thơ) should contact the Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City. (Note: Da Nang is under the HCMC Consulate’s jurisdiction for most consular matters).
