Thác Yang Bay, often simply called Yang Bay Waterfall, presents a spectacular escape into the pristine mountains and forests of Khánh Hòa Province. Located within a vast eco-tourism park, it provides a refreshing mix of natural beauty, adventure, and local ethnic culture, making it an ideal day trip from Nha Trang.

Natural Beauty and Significance

The name “Yang Bay” originates from the local Raglai ethnic language, meaning “Waterfall of Heaven,” reflecting its status as a sacred and beautiful natural wonder.

  • Three-Tiered Waterfall: The main attraction is the majestic cascade, which plunges over multiple levels into clear pools below. Visitors enjoy swimming in the natural, cool pools at the base of the falls.

  • Hocho Hot Springs: A unique feature is the presence of hot mineral springs (Hocho) within the park. Guests can relax and soak in the therapeutic, warm mineral water pools, which offer a revitalizing experience amid the forest scenery.

  • Moc Than (The Wishing Tree): The park houses a sacred, ancient Banyan tree, known locally as the Mộc Thần (Spiritual Wood). The Raglai people consider this tree a spiritual symbol, where visitors can tie wish ribbons onto its branches to offer prayers for peace, health, and luck.

Activities and Raglai Culture

The Yang Bay Tourist Park developed the area beyond just the waterfall, creating a destination with diverse entertainment and cultural activities.

  • Ethnic Cultural Hub: The park actively promotes the local Raglai ethnic culture. Visitors can enjoy traditional music performances, featuring unique instruments like the lithophone (stone musical instrument), gongs, and flutes. Performers often invite guests to try the instruments or join in traditional dances.

  • Fauna and Flora Zone: The eco-park includes a small animal sanctuary. Guests can see ostriches, deer, and crocodiles. Popular activities involve ostrich riding and crocodile fishing (using bait rods), providing light-hearted fun.

  • Recreation: The park also offers various folk games and activities, including pig racing, archery, and javelin throwing, ensuring a complete family-friendly experience.

What a beautiful place, waterfalls, small rivers and lakes. And of course animals, cute guinea pigs, ostriches, carps and lazy crocs) But the best thing for me it's the Tree of Wishes.

Very commercial. If people enjoy this. I respect that, but honestly I think this is an afront to nature, asphalt everywhere kitsch plastic statues everywhere.

Not my cup of tea, if you are a nature/waterfall lover I am afraid you need to go elsewhere. There are a lot of gorgeous waterfalls in vietnam, but some of them are very hard to get there without a good motorbike and offroading experience.

Again some people might enjoy this, but don't go in expecting any real nature, it is very commercialized.

A tropical park with zoo, waterfall, ostriches riding, pig racing, croc feeding, mudbath and who knows what else. Would be good for kids. A lot of sculptures of all kind of animals including dinos. It is best you call ahead to check what is awailable at the date you go. Maybe there is a performance.. for a place 50 km into the mountains it is a 5 star.

A beautiful waterfall worth visiting, the entrance fee may look expensive but it’s inclusive of mud bath and soaking in warm spring water. Suitable for family with young children too as there are mini zoo with ostrich, peacocks, crocodiles to name a few. Easy walk with not much trouble moving around. You can easily spend 1/2 a day or full day trip to this place.
