Discover Sunset Town: Phú Quốc’s Mediterranean Masterpiece

Sunset Town (Vietnamese: Thị trấn Hoàng Hôn) is a vibrant, purpose-built coastal destination on the southern tip of Phú Quốc Island, known for its stunning recreation of Mediterranean architecture. The developer, Sun Group, meticulously designed the town to resemble the colorful, cascading villages of Italy’s Amalfi Coast, creating a breathtaking blend of European charm and tropical seaside beauty.

Iconic Architecture and Photo Spots

Visitors quickly recognize Sunset Town for its striking landmarks, which provide endless opportunities for photography.

  • The Kiss Bridge (Cầu Hôn): This instantly recognizable structure is the town’s centerpiece, featuring two graceful, non-connecting arcs stretching over the sea. Architects designed the 30-centimeter gap to be symbolically closed only by the embrace of a kiss or a handshake at sunset, making it one of Asia’s most romantic photo locations.

  • The Venice Clock Tower: Inspired by the famous St. Mark’s Campanile in Italy, this 75-meter-tall tower serves as a key visual anchor for the town.

  • Roman Arena (An Thới Station): Located within the area, this terminal features grand columns and ancient-looking ruins, serving as the departure point for the world-record-holding Hòn Thơm Cable Car.

  • Pompeii Ruins and Dragon Staircase: You can find numerous other meticulously crafted spots, such as the mock ancient ruins and the winding Dragon Staircase, enhancing the town’s artistic and cinematic flair.

Entertainment: The Kiss of the Sea Show

Sunset Town is famous for hosting world-class entertainment, establishing Phú Quốc as the “Island of 365 Days of Fireworks.”

  • Kiss of the Sea Show (Kiss The Stars): This spectacular multimedia show combines fire, water, lasers, 3D mapping, music, and more than 60 international performers on a massive water stage. The performance culminates in a breathtaking fireworks display. It delivers an unforgettable 30-minute sensory experience every night (with occasional exceptions, so always confirm the schedule).

  • Fun Fest Night Market: This bustling market offers a variety of street food, souvenirs, and local crafts, providing a lively atmosphere after the sun goes down.

Best Time to Visit

As the name suggests, the best time to visit is late afternoon, allowing you to explore the town’s architecture, witness the spectacular sunset over the Gulf of Thailand at the Kiss Bridge, and stay for the nightly shows. Many suggest visiting between December and March because this offers the most pleasant weather conditions.

Practical Visitor Information

Plan your journey to easily access the main attractions and shows.

  • Address: Sunset Town encompasses the area around the cable car terminal, with the main attractions centered at 22H4+XVH, An Thới, Phú Quốc, Kiên Giang 92513, Vietnam.

  • Entry Fee: Accessing the general Sunset Town area is typically free. However, you must purchase separate tickets to experience the Kiss of the Sea Show and ride the Hòn Thơm Cable Car.

  • Kiss of the Sea Ticket Prices (Reference): Ticket prices vary based on seating category but generally start from approximately 1,000,000 VND. Check the official Sun World website for the most current rates and combo deals.

  • Operating Hours: While the town itself is always accessible, shops and attractions operate from mid-morning until late evening. The Kiss of the Sea Show generally starts around 9:00 PM.

  • Contact Information (General Inquiries for Sun World Phú Quốc): The official Sun World website provides the best and most up-to-date contact details.

Sunset Town is an absolutely stunning destination — a perfect blend of charm, beauty, and elegance. 🌅 The architecture is truly mesmerizing, with its European-style streets, colorful buildings, and dazzling lights that make the whole town glow beautifully, especially in the evening. ✨

The people here are incredibly warm and helpful, adding to the welcoming vibe of the place. Getting around by buggy is convenient, though a bit on the expensive side — but with a little bargaining, you can easily get a fair deal. Overall, Sunset Town is a must-visit spot that feels straight out of a fairytale — perfect for strolling, capturing beautiful photos, and soaking in the magical ambiance by the sea. ❤️

Sunset Town looks impressive at first glance, with clean streets and brand-new buildings styled like a Mediterranean village. But once you’re there, it feels strangely empty and a bit over-the-top – almost like a movie set with no actors. It’s very picturesque, so it’s great for taking photos or catching a sunset with ocean views, but it lacks real atmosphere or life. Feels more like a tourist backdrop than a vibrant town. Worth a short visit if you’re nearby, but don’t expect much beyond the visuals.

This theme park style area is fascinating and so weird. It's very well constructed and is also where the cable car departs/arrives. There are large golf buggy style taxis that charge about VND300,000 for an hour and they will drive you through all the town and stop at all the photo stops. If walking there are quite a lot of hills and steps.
Strangest thing about this place is that there is so few people. This is the low season, but even so I've no idea how the shops/bars/restaurants survive.
