Hoi An Memories Land – Experience 400 Years of History in One Night

Hoi An Memories Land, located on Cam Nam Island, is a comprehensive cultural and entertainment complex near the ancient town. This sprawling destination successfully merges a historical theme park with a massive outdoor artistic spectacle, offering visitors an immersive journey through 400 years of Hoi An’s history as a vibrant trading port. It provides a unique complement to the quiet charm of the UNESCO-listed Ancient Town.

I. The Core Attraction: Hoi An Memories Show

The centerpiece of the complex is the renowned Hoi An Memories Show (Ky Uc Hoi An). It holds the distinction of being the world’s largest outdoor show, featuring over 500 performers on a 25,000 square meter stage.

  • The Narrative: The show dramatically recounts Hoi An’s transformation from a serene, small farming village into the bustling international trading port known as Faifo. It divides the story into five acts: Life, The Wedding, Ships and Sea, The Shore, and The Ao Dai.

  • The Production: Performers utilize the traditional Vietnamese Ao Dai costume alongside spectacular modern staging techniques, elaborate lighting, water effects, and elegant audio. The visual narrative unfolds without dialogue, allowing the music and powerful imagery to convey the deep emotional and historical context.

  • Show Schedule: The main show runs nightly, typically starting at 8:00 PM and lasting for one hour. Please note that the park is usually closed on Tuesdays.

II. Hoi An Impression Theme Park

Before the main spectacle, guests explore the Hoi An Impression Theme Park, an interactive village that recreates the life and architecture of 16th and 17th-century Hoi An.

  • Cultural Zones: The park features distinct areas, including Vietnamese, Japanese, and Chinese villages, reflecting the city’s role as a meeting point for diverse cultures.

  • Mini-Shows and Activities: Throughout the evening, interactive folk performances and mini-shows pop up in different corners. Visitors enjoy traditional games and learn crafts like lantern-making, pottery, and loom weaving from local artisans. The park opens at 4:00 PM, giving you ample time to explore before the main event.

We had an absolutely great time at the Hoi An Memory Show! The main show is a must-watch — truly spectacular — and there are several smaller performances worth seeing too.
The place is well-managed, beautifully lit, and perfect for clicking photos. Highly recommended for an unforgettable evening!

Located separately on an island, there is a boat that takes us out to watch the show.

The performance is great, with beautiful and impressive visuals.
However, it can be difficult for foreign visitors who don’t understand much about Vietnamese history and culture. Still, it’s worth coming for the visual experience

This show was like watching the Olympics opening ceremony... it blew my mind! An absolute must if you are travelling through Hoi An. VIP tickets were definitely worth it - comfier seats, air conditioning, fruit and water and a full view of the entire stage!

The lighting, choreo, music and sheer number of performers was nothing short of spectacular and considering they run it every night (except Tuesdays) is phenomenal

This is the most beautiful show I’ve ever seen in my life. The performance is exquisitely arranged, with stunning props and world-class effects, yet it still preserves the traditional essence in both the story and the music.

Even the mini shows are highly entertaining, with not a single moment that disappoints. I would truly recommend everyone to experience this at least once in their lifetime.

I have to agree with Reuters in rating this is the most wonderful show in the world. Awesome choreography, combined with world class sound, lighting, laser works and pyrotechnics. The performers work extremely hard for this performance, often starting with the mini shows around the theme park until the grand finale show from 5-9pm.

The show ticket allows you to enter the theme park around 4pm. You may feel underwhelming as you may be the only person there at this time. Good for picture taking at good spots without the crowd. Then at close to 5pm, the crowd starts to trickle in, when the mini shows start and keep you entertained until 7pm, where you have 1hr dinner time at the many restaurants. They are reasonably priced. 8pm is where the grand finale show starts at the main stadium. I'd recommend you buy the Hi-class ticket for the best experience. It's situated right at the middle with good height and distance. VIP seatings may be a little too high up and far to experience the sight and sound, but you get individual chair and table though.

Will definitely return to watch the show again in the future.
