The Réhahn Gallery, often branded as Couleurs d’Asie by Réhahn, is the Ho Chi Minh City showcase for the celebrated French photographer Réhahn Croquevielle. Known for his mission to document and preserve Vietnam’s diverse ethnic cultures, the gallery offers visitors a quiet, sophisticated space to view his evocative portraits and vivid landscape photography.

I. Cultural Significance & The Artist's Mission

  • Focus on Heritage: Réhahn’s work is driven by his “Precious Heritage Project,” which aims to meet, photograph, and document all 54 of Vietnam’s officially recognized ethnic groups. His photographs are celebrated for capturing the genuine beauty and soul of the Vietnamese people.

  • Iconic Works: The gallery typically displays his most famous and celebrated works, including “The Hidden Smile” of Madam Xong and portraits from his series documenting the country’s ethnic minorities. These works have been featured in major international publications.

  • Fine Art & Charity: The gallery is primarily a commercial space for his Limited Edition prints, which are often sold for high prices. Importantly, revenue generated from his art is often used to support his “Giving Back Project,” funding education and preservation initiatives within the communities he photographs.

II. Visitor Experience (What to See and Do)

  • Art Appreciation: The gallery provides a calm, air-conditioned environment to appreciate high-quality, large-format fine art prints. It offers a contrasting experience to the bustling streets outside.

  • Discovering Diversity: Visitors can explore Vietnam’s cultural and geographical diversity through his lens, seeing the people and landscapes of remote regions that tourists rarely visit.

  • Investment & Souvenirs: For serious collectors, the gallery offers fine art prints and signed photography books (such as Vietnam, Mosaic of Contrasts). For casual visitors, it offers a visually stunning cultural experience at no cost.

Staff member gave me a nervous and uncomfortable feeling by keeping an eye on me when I was looking around which gave me not a fully nice experience. Other than that, the photos and faces of the different people in Vietnam are absolutely beautiful and heartwarming to see.

What I felt in Rehahn's Gallery by looking at his pictures, was inspiration, impression and tranquillità.

His photographs transmitted to me a glance of pure vietnamese essence of life, the importance of protection of nature and the value of preserving the handmade work.

Thao and her colleagues gave me an introduction to the 54 etical groups of vietnam and the photographic techniques with passion and conviction.

Thanx for the fascinating and wonderful impressions
