Van Thanh Tourist Village is a large, peaceful recreational area in the Bình Thạnh District, just a short drive from Ho Chi Minh City’s downtown core. It provides a unique escape from the urban hustle, covering over and featuring lush greenery, a massive lake, and a resort-like atmosphere designed for relaxation, dining, and large events.

I. History & Concept

  • Origin: Established in the mid-, Van Thanh was conceived to provide a convenient, green leisure space for city residents. It later transitioned into a full-service tourist and hospitality complex, managed by the Saigon Tourist Corporation.

  • The “Village” Feel: Despite its size and proximity to the city, the area is carefully landscaped to evoke a traditional Vietnamese countryside atmosphere, complete with rustic wooden bridges, thatched-roof huts, and expansive green lawns surrounding a central lake ().

II. Visitor Experience (What to See and Do)

  • Swimming Pool: The large, resort-style swimming pool is one of the main attractions, especially popular on hot days. It is separated into areas for adults and children.

  • Buffet Dining: Van Thanh is famous for its large weekend buffet featuring a vast array of authentic Vietnamese regional dishes (often called the “Regional Delicious Dishes” buffet), served in a scenic, lakeside setting.

  • Leisure Activities: Visitors can enjoy recreational fishing by renting gear and seating at the lakeside huts. The large open spaces are also perfect for family picnics, team-building activities, or simply a leisurely walk.

  • Events & Photography: With its beautiful setting and dedicated banquet halls, the venue is a highly popular location for large-scale events, conferences, outdoor wedding receptions, and pre-wedding photography shoots.

Looks like the park is mainly for hosting banquets and large gatherings. There isn’t an exercise area like other parks in Saigon; if you’re visiting, you’ll probably mainly be walking around and eating at some of the shops i.e. doing the same stuff that you would do outside the park.

Second time I come here. Nice park with excellent swimming pool for only 7000 dong. The Van Thanh metro stop is just next to the park. Little cafe at the entrance for drinks. Bring your own pad lock if you want to use the lockers.
